Food 4 Kids

Our food program has evolved over the years. We now have Community Distribution Days (for eligible families with children) and continue our Summer & School Break Lunch Program. During non-school periods, our local children who are on the free/reduced meal programs at school go without breakfast and lunch most days. We step in to fill that food gap. Nutritious lunches are prepared each weekday during these non-school periods and are delivered to various locations within Kendall County. Our Community Distribution Days provide up to two weeks worth of food to get kids through the weekends and more. This is a year-round program.

  • "I would not have been able to work this summer without the scholarships provided for my kids this past summer. Knowing that my kids were taken care of and being fed lunch everyday was a blessing."

  • "Helping feed our members, especially those that may be facing food scarcity issues at home is one of things we love about our partnership with LKCK. Whether it's during the school year, over break , or in the summer, our families that qualify for scholarships not only receive help in making sure their kids have a fun and safe place to be in the summer, they also know they will be fed and cared for as well."

Emma Hix, Branch Director, Boys & Girls Club

School Supplies 4 Kids

This is a new program for LKCK starting in 2024. SAM’s Kids has been providing this service to local kids for the past 18 years, and can no longer manage the program so we stepped in to help. • "During the past few years, BISD has witnessed a remarkable increase of families living in poverty. A child entering class on the first day of school with meager supplies is placed at an immediate disadvantage. Providing our underserved children with new supplies and backpacks on the first day of school elevates their self esteem and encourages them to take pride in their part of the learning process."
